My Month on Instagram - August.

If you've been following Christie's Take on Life for any amount of time, you'd surely know by now that I'm a major lover of Instagram! It's the perfect outlet for posting inspiration and little snippets of life, and seeing what my favourite bloggers and friends are up to.

There are so many times that my Instagram posts never make it to my blog, and that's a damn shame because I consider myself to be quite the photographer..

..Not really, but it's a shame nonetheless!

Instalife over the past month looked something like this:

I died and went to heaven when I laid eyes upon the glorious dessert buffet during August's event management workshop.

Forever trying new cafes with Jesse, Lot Siz Zero's big vegetarian breakfast was a winner.

My first market visit ever was pretty neat. I love nothing more than fresh flower stalls.

Milkshakes a la diabetes at Rise and Grind Espresso.

WE HAD OUT FIRST ALMOST SRPING-LIKE DAY AND IT WAS AMAZING! Bye, Winter!

I love finding pretty new feeds to follow on Instagram; leave your account deets in the comments, or come find me: @christieee__x!

August Beauty Favourites.

One: Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer
I looovvveeee this drugstore offering. I reach for it for daily looks rather than my forever favourite Benefit Hoola Bronzer, which I save for special occasions #FrugalLiving. In all honestly, I don't notice a huge difference between the two (!!!) The powder is smooth and creamy (somehow) the colour is non-muddy which makes it amazing for either contouring or adding a glow to the face. The smell, too guys. Summer-y, coconut-ty goodness. Sigh.

Two: The Body Shop Mineral and Ginger Warming Massage Clay Mask
This is pretty neat, I must say. It literally warms up due to the natural ingredients upon contact and didn't irritate my sensitive skin at all. I've been suffering from the flu recently, and the warming ginger (which we all know is a flu-buster) really made me feel that much better, if only for a little while. It really felt like it was getting deep down into my pores and left my face feeling soft and moisturized after I wash it off.

Three: Nuxe Multi-Purpose Dry Oil
The Winter weather reeked havoc on my skin, leaving it dry and itchy. I've been using facial oils for quite some time now, but have only just dipped my toe in the multi-oil world. I've been using this all over my body and on the ends of my hair almost daily to remedy my dry everything and the difference has been insane. Being a dry oil, it doesn't leave my skin feeling slippery and, well, oily. It just leaves my body feeling soft and nourished, with a lingering floral scent.

Four: Australis Sense No Fear Eyeliner
I'm not going to lie, I bought this because I thought it looked cool. Turns out, the design of the whole contraption makes application so much easier! Great for liquid newbies or just the generally unco (hi). The felt tip is flexible and doesn't drag, it applies nicely over eye shadow and pencil liner (my biggest annoyance with a lot of liquid formulas is that they won't work over pre-existing makeup), it is satisfiably long lasting, the liquid dries really quickly and once it is dry, there's no smudging and it's pretty water resistant. Not waterproof but it does stand up nicely against it.

I don't know how silly this is going to sound.. but these are (individually wrapped!) face wipes.. soaked in coconut oil. Whatttt?! I mean, I could just use a coconut oil, I guess, but I really do enjoy using these wipes. They quickly, easily and gently melt my make-up (waterproof included) away, while moisturizing and softening my sensitive skin at the same time. It truly is a luxurious experience if you ask me.

August Look Back and September Goals.

A look back at August's goals:

Book my car in for a service
"You know when you're trying really hard to save money, and THAT'S when everything comes up? Welcome to my life for the past few months. I discovered just today that my beloved car is due for its next service. Yay, life."
Tick: It really wasn't as expensive as I anticipated it to be, and my baby runs so much smoother now.

Fix my rear bumper
"Further to my statement above, some wonderful fellow citizen of the world decided to leave my car with a some beautiful decorations permanently indented in to it. AKA some ass drove into my car in a parking lot and bailed. It's bugging the shit out of me - time for a new one.
P.S. I hate all humans."
Tick: This has truly soothed my soul. Also not as expensive as I anticipated. Ka-ching.

Complete the Event Concepts unit
"I'm part way through this particular unit, and it's a biggie. Though big, it's actually a fun one (!!!), so I definitely want to get this whole unit submitted come September."
Tick: This is what I'm most proud of achieving last month. I worked my butt off, and it paid off (ohai, passing with honours).

Clean the fish tank
"I'm a terrible mother and should never be in charge of life. But I am. AND my fish have all (somehow) lived for over a year now, thank you very much. But.. their tank is disgusting. More than disgusting. And I've been putting cleaning it off for months now. Terrible."
Tick: 80 litres of pure, unadulterated fun.

I don't mean to alarm you, but for the first time ever, I SUCCESSFULLY DID ALL THE THINGS! I have finally adulted.

Goals for September:
I'm keeping my goals short and sweet this month due to the busy nature of this upcoming month.

Create a Pinterest board for the blog
I've read more and more posts recently about the benefits of having a blog Pinterest board. It's something I've been meaning to do for a while, I've just never been overly bothered with the re-taking of "pinable" images, fixing old content, yadda yadda yadda. The benefits, though, are well worth the time.

Lose 3kg
I haven't been doing too well with my weight loss journey lately. I exercise regularly, but then I go ahead and eat all crappy foods. Counterproductive. I really want to focus on my eating this month, and lose at least 3kg before my birthday celebration (October 15).

De-stress as much a possible
September promises to be a hectic month for me. On top of my full-time job, I have birthdays, course workshops, work experience and commitments galore. As someone who handles stress horrendously, I need to take as much relaxation time, just Jesse and I, as I can.
