An Instagram Round-up

In case you hadn't noticed, it's been a hot minute (read: 6 months!) since I've published a "My Month on Instagram" post and the reason for that would be because I HAVEN'T TAKEN ANY PHOTOS IN ABOUT THAT LONG, which is absolutely shameful. I even ended up setting myself a "post to Instagram" goal last month. Hint: I failed.

Don't get me wrong, I use Instagram every single day. I scroll through my feed religiously. I like photos, I watch stories and I stalk comment but I just don't have any content to publish anymore.

So, I thought I would post the pitiful amount of photos that I did publish over the past 6 months as a last ditch effort to motivate me to get back in to the swing of posting, or even just taking photos to begin with, at least semi-regularly:

My daily, "work face" products. You can read the full post, tallying up the cost of said face here.

I also did the same with my "night out" (higher end) make-up and skincare too. Full post here for you to judge read.

I was so excited to get this kitchen dΓ©cor up on the wall when we first moved in to our new house. It added a much needed hit of "life" to our then impersonal house. To this day, I still get a whiff of the coffee beans as I was past.

Perth has an annual event called Kaleidoscope, in which a bunch of light installations and features are set up and free for the public to peruse. This is my favourite shot from the event and it wasn't even a display piece, just an arty lantern, lighting the path.

If you didn't know that I think turmeric lattes are the bees knees, did you even know me at all?

I do enjoy me a good flatlay or two. This particular one showcases all I got in my collective birthday beauty haul.

I'm not one for New Year resolutions, but I'd definitely like to make the effort to be more active on Instagram in 2018.

I love finding pretty new feeds to follow on Instagram; leave your account deets in the comments, or come find me: @christieee__x

  4. Perhaps it because you have a beauty blog its more difficult to post related pictures everyday? And perhaps you dont need to alway post new pictures? I dont! As I am a travel blogger and I love taking pictures I really enjoy using instagram but since I dont travel or discover the world everyday I just post old pictures. What I mean by old pictures are not the old one I have already posted but the one I have never posted before. What ever you do, have fun with it!😘

  6. I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who falls behind on Instagram. Lol. I especially love the light in the dark. The whole idea of a light festival sounds fantastic.

  9. I really do enjoy looking at the pictures on Instagram. How's your garden going? Maybe with your time off you'll come back better then ever.

  10. Your Instagram feed is so pretty. Looking forward to seeing you upcoming posts. I still have a lot of work to do with my feed/schedule. So I totally understand where you're coming from.

  11. Well, reaching my 40s I'm more layed back than I used to be. Now I only post on instagram when I have something to say and don't really care how often that is.

  13. I struggle so much with Instagram! I just never feel like my content is good enough to compare with the literal millions of pics posted each day! But I do schedule posts at least to every day I publish a post (which is 3x a week!)

  14. Girl, I feel you about posting on Instagram! I'm absolutely terrible at it! I used to do an Instagram round up wayyy back in the day but had to stop due to lack of posts - I like the idea of doing one every once in a while though when I have enough content! Beautiful photos though!

  15. Setting reminders is a good idea. With so many social accounts and all the hustle and bustle, sometimes it’s hard to stay on a regular schedule.

  16. Here's to being more into posting regularly on instagram in the coming year. I think that I go on and off with Instagram myself. I love photos and posting, but sometimes I feel like I am just enjoying the living portion of it and not always being behind the camera taking the photos. I'm sure 2018 will be awesome.

  20. You're definitely not alone, girl aha.
Kaleidoscope was awesome, I think the lantern photo is my favourite of the round-up, too. :) x

  21. Thanks, love! Alas, my poor garden remains neglected haha. I have big plans for it in 2018, though! I'm so pleased that you remembered! <3 x

  22. Thanks, girl. :) I hear ya there! It's hard to keep consistent on Instagram if you don't have a glamorous life. I work 9-5 and come home to laze around in sweatpants.. not the most Insta-worthy life haha. x

  23. That's a good way to go about it, Maro! :) x

  26. It's easy to feel unimpressive in an Instagram world full of professional photography. I think that as long as you stay true to yourself and your photography style, you'll get a loyal following of like-minded people. :) Good on you for staying consistent! x

  27. Story of my life hahaha. Work and the shitty Instagram algorithm have gotten in the way of my Instagram posting aha. Once in a while is definitely more manageable, and makes me look much less lazy hehe. Thank you for your kind words. <3 x

  28. That's a good idea! I have reminders for Twitter tweets, why not have one for Instagram?! Thanks for the inspiration. :) x

  29. 11 days in and I haven't posted one thing yet... But here's to posting regularly from now on! I'm just a slow-starter... yes, that's it. *shifty eyes*
That's a great way to live, David! An experience isn't the same when seen through a screen.. Enjoy life in person, I say! :) x
